In the Epic of Gilgamesh, which divine creature does Ishtar send against Uruk?

The story behind the answer

In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Ishtar sends the Bull of Heaven against Uruk.

After Gilgamesh rejects Ishtar’s proposal, the goddess asks her father Anu to release the celestial bull. The creature descends to punish Gilgamesh and the people of Uruk, and its attacks cause devastating deaths and destruction.

Gilgamesh and Enkidu confront the Bull of Heaven together. Enkidu seizes it, while Gilgamesh delivers the killing blow. The heroes then celebrate their victory, but the gods judge that one of them must die because of the Bull’s destruction and the earlier killing of Humbaba.

The Bull of Heaven is a distinct figure from Anzû, the storm bird of another Mesopotamian myth, and from the mušḫuššu, a dragon-like creature associated with Babylon. Those creatures belong to different stories and visual traditions.
