Alpha-O is a powerful artificial intelligence hidden in a robotic child’s body. The US military believes that destroying it will end the conflict between humanity and machine intelligence. Former special-forces operative Joshua Taylor is sent to locate the technology, but the mission becomes complicated when he discovers the child’s unusual abilities.
The film distinguishes Alpha-O from Nirmata, the mysterious human or symbolic figure associated with the creation of AI beings. It is also different from NOMAD, the orbital weapon system used by the United States against AI populations.
Alpha-O’s identity is important because the story questions whether machine intelligence is inherently dangerous or whether violence comes from the societies that control technology. Its childlike form deliberately contrasts with the military’s description of it as a catastrophic weapon.
