In “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian,” the Pevensies live in London, England, when the story begins. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are back in their ordinary world after their first adventure in Narnia.
The film opens with the siblings at London’s Strand Underground station, waiting for transportation to boarding school. A magical event then pulls them out of the station and returns them to Narnia, where they discover that roughly 1,300 years have passed there even though only about a year has passed in England.
The London setting highlights the contrast between the children’s normal lives and their former identities as Narnian kings and queens. They have returned to being schoolchildren, and Peter in particular struggles with losing the authority he once held as High King.
The movie was released in 2008 and adapts C. S. Lewis’s 1951 novel “Prince Caspian.” The book also begins with the Pevensies in England, although it uses a railway station rather than the London Underground location featured in the film.
