In The Office Christmas specials, Dawn Tinsley is living in Florida. Three years after the original documentary, the former Wernham Hogg receptionist has moved to the United States with her fiancé, Lee, although their circumstances are far from glamorous.
The documentary crew offers to fly Dawn and Lee back to Britain for the Wernham Hogg Christmas party. Dawn's return rekindles her friendship with Tim Canterbury and brings the show's long-running emotional storyline to its conclusion. Lee initially wants them to leave, but Dawn eventually returns to the office after ending their relationship and kisses Tim.
Florida is sometimes confused with the scenes filmed in Spain. The production used Spain to stand in for Florida, so the location seen on screen is not actually the U.S. state. The Christmas specials were broadcast on BBC One on 26 and 27 December 2003 and serve as the two-part finale of the original British series.
