In The Breakfast Club, what is the name of the high school attended by the five students?

The story behind the answer

In The Breakfast Club, the five students attend Shermer High School.

John Hughes’s 1985 film follows five teenagers who report to an all-day Saturday detention at the fictional school in Shermer, Illinois. The students are Brian Johnson, Andrew Clark, Allison Reynolds, Claire Standish, and John Bender.

Their school identities initially divide them into familiar student stereotypes: a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. During detention, they reveal personal pressures and discover similarities beneath those labels.

The school is fictional, but the film was largely shot at Maine North High School in Des Plaines, Illinois. That building, which closed as a regular high school in 1981, supplied the interior and exterior locations used for Shermer High School.
