In the Book of Revelation, seven angels blow trumpets.
The vision appears after the opening of the seventh seal, when seven angels standing before God are each given a trumpet. Their blasts unfold in Revelation chapters 8–11 and announce a sequence of dramatic judgments and cosmic signs.
The first four trumpets affect the natural world: hail and fire devastate vegetation, something like a burning mountain falls into the sea, Wormwood poisons waters, and a third of the sun, moon, and stars is darkened. The fifth and sixth trumpets introduce the first two “woes,” while the seventh announces the triumphant proclamation that the world’s kingdom has become the kingdom of God and his Messiah.
A common mix-up is to count every angel appearing in the surrounding passage. Revelation also mentions an eighth angel holding a golden censer, but that figure is not one of the trumpet-blowing seven. The seven trumpets are distinct from the seven seals and the seven bowls of wrath.
