In the Assassin's Creed series, what is the name of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's mentor?

The story behind the answer

In the Assassin's Creed series, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's mentor is Al Mualim.

Al Mualim leads the Assassin bureau at Masyaf during the events of the first Assassin's Creed game. The Arabic title “Al Mualim” means “the teacher” or “the master,” reflecting his authority over Altaïr and the other Assassins. He assigns Altaïr a series of targets after Altaïr's failed mission causes him to lose his rank.

Altaïr's missions take place during the Third Crusade, including visits to Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus. At first, Al Mualim appears to be guiding Altaïr toward a restoration of discipline and knowledge. The plot later reveals that his relationship with the Templars and the Apple of Eden is central to the game's final conflict.

Al Mualim is not Altaïr's father or a later series mentor. Characters such as Achilles Davenport and William Miles belong to other periods and Assassin storylines.
