America’s Potluck was the nationwide meal event held on July 5, 2026, as part of the semiquincentennial celebrations.
The initiative was organized by the America250 Utah Commission and adopted across all 50 states and Puerto Rico. It invited neighbors, families, and community groups to host or attend shared potluck meals after the main anniversary date.
Its timing was significant: July 5 was the day after the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Rather than centering on one national venue, the event emphasized local participation and informal community gatherings.
America’s Potluck should not be confused with a federal holiday or a single meal held in one city. It was a distributed anniversary initiative, with participating groups arranging their own food, location, and format. The name also differs from the America250 Commission itself, which coordinated many national programs but did not turn every event into one centrally staged ceremony.
