The 2026–27 Premier League opening-weekend match between Arsenal and Coventry City was hosted at Emirates Stadium.
The fixture was the season opener, played on Friday, 21 August 2026. Arsenal, the defending champions, began their campaign at home against newly promoted Coventry City. The match therefore placed the reigning champions and one of the division’s returning clubs together in the first game.
Emirates Stadium is Arsenal’s home ground in Holloway, north London. It replaced Highbury as the club’s stadium in 2006. A common mix-up is to call the venue Highbury because of Arsenal’s long association with that historic ground, but Highbury was no longer Arsenal’s home when this Premier League match was played. Arsenal won the opener 3–0, giving the home side a clean sheet and three points.
