Alan Ritchson played the voice and motion-capture performance of Raphael in the 2014 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Ritchson supplied Raphael’s voice and performed the character through motion capture, while the finished turtle was created digitally. Raphael is portrayed as the team’s physically imposing, hot-tempered member, with a strong protective relationship toward his brothers.
The four turtles were performed using a combination of actors and digital visual effects. Pete Ploszek performed Leonardo, while Johnny Knoxville provided Leonardo’s voice. Noel Fisher voiced Michelangelo, and Jeremy Howard voiced Donatello. This split between performance and voice is why cast lists can sometimes appear inconsistent.
The film was directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Platinum Dunes, with the story returning the characters to a contemporary live-action setting. It was released in 2014 and served as a reboot of the film series rather than a direct continuation of the 1990s movies.
