In the 2014 film "John Wick," the nightclub where the first major fight occurs is called The Red Circle.
John tracks Iosef Tarasov to the Red Circle after Winston, the Continental’s owner, provides the location. He infiltrates the nightclub and fights through Viggo’s heavily armed men, moving from the club area into a lower-level spa before confronting Iosef. The sequence establishes John’s reputation as an exceptionally efficient assassin.
The Red Circle is not simply a conventional dance club. Its lavish interior, colored lighting, mist, and underground spa give it the stylized, almost dreamlike look that became central to the John Wick series. The nightclub scenes were filmed in several New York locations, including the former Edison Theatre and Aire Ancient Baths.
Viewers sometimes confuse the Red Circle with the Continental, but the Continental is the neutral hotel where John receives protection and medical treatment. The Bowery is associated with another part of the criminal underworld and is not the nightclub in this scene.
