Hugh Grant plays Prime Minister David in the 2003 romantic comedy Love Actually.
David is a newly elected British prime minister whose storyline follows his attraction to Natalie, a member of the household staff played by Martine McCutcheon. Their relationship forms one of the film’s interconnected London romances.
Love Actually was written and directed by Richard Curtis, who had previously written Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill. Rather than telling one continuous story, it connects several relationships during the weeks before Christmas.
The ensemble includes Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Keira Knightley, and Bill Nighy. Hugh Grant’s role is sometimes confused with Colin Firth’s novelist Jamie, another major romantic lead in the same film.
