In the 2000 film X-Men, Wolverine first meets the mutant Rogue at a Canadian bar.
Wolverine, also known as Logan, is working as a cage fighter and traveling through Canada when Rogue arrives at the same establishment. After noticing her unusual abilities, he offers her a ride when she leaves the bar. Their meeting begins the central relationship between the two characters in the film.
Rogue is a teenage mutant whose power allows her to absorb another person’s memories, abilities, and energy through physical contact. Wolverine’s healing factor helps him survive their first dangerous encounter on the road, when she accidentally causes his truck to crash.
The scene is sometimes confused with Wolverine’s first meeting with the X-Men, but the bar encounter occurs before he reaches Xavier’s school. Rogue later becomes one of the school’s students and a major part of the film’s story.
