In the 1997 film "Con Air", which actor plays paroled prisoner Cameron Poe?

The story behind the answer

In the 1997 film "Con Air," Nicolas Cage plays Cameron Poe, a paroled former Army Ranger caught aboard a hijacked prison-transport plane.

Poe is convicted of involuntary manslaughter after killing a man while defending himself and his pregnant wife. After serving an eight-year sentence, he boards the aircraft known as Jailbird to return to Alabama and reunite with his wife, Tricia, and their young daughter. The flight is commandeered by violent prisoners being transferred to a new facility.

Unlike many of the other inmates, Poe tries to protect vulnerable passengers and work with authorities from inside the aircraft. His physical strength, military background, and determination to reach his family make him the film's reluctant hero. Cage's performance also became known for Poe's long hair, Southern accent, and the film's heightened action style.

John Malkovich plays Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom, the mastermind of the takeover, while Ving Rhames plays Nathan "Diamond Dog" Jones. John Cusack portrays U.S. Marshal Vince Larkin, who coordinates the response on the ground. "Con Air" was a major 1997 action hit and later developed a cult following.
