In the 1987 film "Predator", which actor plays the commando nicknamed Dutch?

The story behind the answer

In the 1987 film "Predator," Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the commando nicknamed Dutch.

Dutch is Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer, the leader of an elite rescue team sent into a Central American jungle. The mission begins as a military extraction operation, but the team soon discovers that it is being hunted by an extraterrestrial warrior equipped with advanced camouflage and weapons.

Unlike many of Schwarzenegger’s earlier action heroes, Dutch spends much of the film losing his technological and tactical advantages. After the Predator kills the rest of his team, Dutch survives by using the jungle, improvised traps, and stealth. The final confrontation strips the character down to endurance and resourcefulness rather than firepower.

Schwarzenegger’s muscular screen persona is central to the film’s setup, but Predator gradually reverses the usual action-movie power fantasy: the heavily armed commandos become prey. Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Sylvester Stallone were also prominent action stars, but none plays Dutch in the 1987 film.
