In the 1986 film "Aliens", which actress plays Ellen Ripley?

In the 1986 film "Aliens," Sigourney Weaver plays Ellen Ripley.

Ripley is the returning protagonist from Ridley Scott's 1979 film "Alien." In that earlier story, she was the warrant officer aboard the commercial spaceship Nostromo and the only surviving crew member after an encounter with a deadly extraterrestrial organism. "Aliens" moves her story into a larger military science-fiction setting.

After colony communications fail on the moon LV-426, Ripley agrees to return with a unit of Colonial Marines. The mission reveals that the threat has grown far beyond the single creature she encountered before. Weaver's performance presents Ripley as frightened but resilient, combining survival instincts with a fierce determination to protect the young survivor Newt.

The film was written and directed by James Cameron and became known for expanding the series from horror into action-focused science fiction. Weaver received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, a notable achievement for a science-fiction performance. Carrie Fisher, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Linda Hamilton are associated with other famous roles, but none plays Ripley in "Aliens."
