In "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", which actor plays the young John Connor?

The story behind the answer

In "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," Edward Furlong plays the young John Connor. John is Sarah Connor’s son and the future leader of humanity’s resistance against Skynet.

The film opens with John living with foster parents in 1995 while Sarah is confined to Pescadero State Hospital. Although he initially treats his mother’s warnings about machines and the future as delusions, two Terminators soon force him to confront the destiny she described.

Furlong was discovered by casting director Mali Finn at a Pasadena Boys and Girls Club and won the role after auditioning among hundreds of candidates. Terminator 2 became his acting debut and earned him major attention, including an MTV Movie Award and a Saturn Award for younger acting performance.

The role is sometimes confused with later portrayals of John Connor. Nick Stahl played an older John in Terminator 3, while Christian Bale played him in Terminator Salvation. Furlong returned through facial performance work for a brief sequence in Terminator: Dark Fate.
