A score of 10–10 in table tennis is called deuce.
When a game reaches deuce, neither player or pair can win by taking only the next point. Instead, the game continues until one side leads by two points, such as 12–10 or 15–13. Service also changes after every point during this phase.
The term is shared with several other racket sports, but the exact scoring details depend on the sport. In table tennis, the ordinary game target is 11 points, provided the winner has a two-point advantage.
Players sometimes call any tied score “deuce,” but in standard table tennis usage the special term applies once the score reaches 10–10. A tie earlier in the game, such as 6–6, is simply a level score and does not trigger the special rules.
