In Sumerian mythology, what Akkadian name corresponds to the god Enki?

The story behind the answer

In Sumerian mythology, the Akkadian name corresponding to the god Enki is Ea.

Enki was a major Sumerian god associated with fresh water, wisdom, crafts, magic and creation. His principal cult center was Eridu, one of the most important early cities of southern Mesopotamia. In Akkadian-language traditions, his name appears as Ea, while many of his roles and myths continue from Sumerian tradition.

Ea is especially prominent in Babylonian and Akkadian stories involving humanity’s survival and divine knowledge. In the flood tradition, he warns the human survivor Atrahasis—or Utnapishtim in the Gilgamesh tradition—about the coming disaster. This makes him a frequent counterpart to Enki in comparative discussions.

Ea should not be confused with Enlil, another major Mesopotamian god who is associated with authority, wind and storms. The names belong to different deities, although both appear in overlapping creation and flood narratives.
