Lune is the cat prince whom Haru rescues in Studio Ghibli’s The Cat Returns.
Haru saves Lune from being hit by a truck, not realizing that he is royalty in the Cat Kingdom. The grateful kingdom begins showering Haru with gifts and eventually plans to make her Lune’s bride. Her journey into that kingdom leads her to the Cat Bureau and the elegant cat known as the Baron.
Lune is sometimes confused with the Baron because both characters are central cats in the story. However, the Baron is the sophisticated protector who helps Haru, while Lune is the prince whose rescue triggers the plot. The film was directed by Hiroyuki Morita and released in Japan in 2002.
