In Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron, which Academy Award did the film win?

In Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron, the film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The award was presented at the 96th Academy Awards on March 10, 2024. It was the first Japanese-produced film to win the category and the second Hayao Miyazaki film to receive that honor, after Spirited Away won in 2003.

The film was released in Japan in 2023 under the Japanese title How Do You Live? Its English-language title, The Boy and the Heron, was used for international distribution. The victory is sometimes confused with the film’s Golden Globe win, which was also historically significant as the first animated film to win that award.
