Snowy is the name of Tintin’s dog in Steven Spielberg’s 2011 film The Adventures of Tintin.
Snowy is a white wire fox terrier and Tintin’s constant companion. The character comes from Hergé’s Belgian comic series The Adventures of Tintin, where Snowy is known as Milou in the original French editions. Although he does not speak, his actions often help Tintin investigate clues and escape danger.
The film combines material from three Tintin stories: The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn, and Red Rackham’s Treasure. Jamie Bell voices Tintin, while Andy Serkis voices Captain Haddock. Spielberg directed the motion-capture adventure, and Peter Jackson served as a producer.
Snowy is more than a pet in the story: he is a partner in Tintin’s investigations. Readers sometimes mistake the character’s original French name for the English name, but the English-language film uses Snowy. The movie was one of the first major feature films to bring Tintin to audiences through performance-capture animation.
