In Star Trek: Voyager, what device gives the Sikarians access to distant worlds?
Answer
Spatial trajector
Answer
Spatial trajector
In Star Trek: Voyager, a spatial trajector is the device that gives the Sikarians access to distant worlds.
The spatial trajector appears in “Prime Factors,” when Voyager encounters the Sikarians in the Delta Quadrant. The device can transport matter over enormous distances by using a form of spatial displacement far more capable than the Federation's normal transporter system.
Voyager's crew hopes to use the technology to shorten its journey home. However, the Sikarians refuse to share it, citing their laws and ethical restrictions. The episode therefore treats the trajector as both a remarkable engineering achievement and a source of political conflict.
The device is not the same as quantum slipstream. Quantum slipstream is a starship propulsion method, while a spatial trajector transfers people or objects between distant locations. That distinction helps explain why the technology could be valuable even without powering an entire ship.
