In Star Trek: Enterprise, what component collects hydrogen for a starship's warp engines?

The story behind the answer

In Star Trek: Enterprise, a Bussard collector collects hydrogen for a starship's warp engines.

Bussard collectors are fictional magnetic collection devices mounted at the front of a starship's warp nacelles. They are intended to gather interstellar hydrogen and other particles as the vessel travels, potentially supplying material for propulsion systems. The concept is inspired by the Bussard ramjet, a real theoretical spacecraft design proposed by physicist Robert W. Bussard in 1960.

The Star Trek version is related to, but not identical with, the real proposal. In the real concept, a magnetic field would funnel hydrogen into a fusion engine. Star Trek's nacelle collectors are often shown as glowing red elements at the front of warp nacelles, especially on Enterprise-era ships.

The collectors are not the warp engines themselves, and they are not the same as the ship's deflector dish. The deflector protects and clears the ship's path, while Bussard collectors are associated with gathering particles for onboard use.
