In Solo: A Star Wars Story, the droid who leads a droid-rights rebellion is L3-37.
L3-37 is a self-modified female pilot droid and the navigator of the Millennium Falcon before Han Solo becomes its captain. She is built from parts of different droids and has altered herself over time, giving her an individual appearance and a strong belief that droids should be free from forced labor.
During the heist on Kessel, L3-37 frees enslaved droids and encourages them to revolt against their owners. The uprising helps the protagonists escape, but L3 is fatally damaged. Her navigation data are then integrated into the Millennium Falcon, which helps explain the ship’s unusually effective route through the Kessel Run.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays L3-37 through performance capture and voice acting. The name is commonly confused with other Star Wars droid designations because it contains both a letter and numerals. L3-37 is distinct from Lando Calrissian’s later droid companion, Lobot.
