In “Rocky V,” Adrian takes on her old job at a pet store.
Adrian Pennino returns to work at the J&M Tropical Fish pet shop in Philadelphia after the Balboas lose their money. The shop is familiar territory for her: in the original “Rocky,” she worked there while Rocky visited to buy food for his pet turtles and tried to ask her out.
The job’s return in “Rocky V” reflects the Balboa family’s sharp financial reversal. Rocky’s boxing fortune disappears after an accountant reveals that Paulie has mishandled their finances and that the family faces major tax problems. Forced to move back to their old South Philadelphia neighborhood, Rocky resumes training while Adrian goes back to earning a living.
The answer is sometimes shortened to “pet shop,” but “pet store” is the same establishment type and is a fair canonical answer. It is also easy to confuse Adrian’s workplace with Mighty Mick’s Gym or the neighborhood bar, both of which are important locations in the Rocky films but are not where Adrian works.
