In Rocky IV, which band performed the song “Burning Heart”?

Survivor performed “Burning Heart” for the 1985 film Rocky IV.

The song plays during Rocky Balboa’s preparation for his fight against Ivan Drago. Its energetic rock sound matches the film’s training-montage style and helped make the soundtrack one of the most memorable parts of the movie.

Survivor had already contributed “Eye of the Tiger” to Rocky III, making the band strongly associated with the franchise. “Burning Heart,” however, is a separate Survivor song written specifically for Rocky IV and is not the same recording as “Eye of the Tiger.”

“Burning Heart” became a major hit outside the film as well. It reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, extending Survivor’s connection with the Rocky series.
