In Rocky III, who plays Rocky Balboa's trainer Mickey Goldmill?

Burgess Meredith plays Rocky Balboa’s trainer Mickey Goldmill in Rocky III.

Mickey Goldmill is Rocky’s longtime trainer and manager. He first appears in the original Rocky as a former boxer who runs the Mighty Mick’s Boxing Gym. Mickey initially treats Rocky dismissively, but he later agrees to train him for the fight with Apollo Creed.

In Rocky III, Mickey has helped Rocky become champion and manages his early title defenses. Before Rocky’s first fight with Clubber Lang, Mickey suffers a heart attack during a confrontation involving Lang. He dies shortly afterward, leaving Rocky without the mentor who guided his professional rise.

Burgess Meredith played Mickey across the first three Rocky films and appeared posthumously through archival footage in Rocky V. Meredith was also famous for playing the Penguin in the 1960s Batman television series. Mickey’s death leads Apollo Creed to become Rocky’s new trainer.
