In RoboCop 2, the narcotic driving much of the film’s conflict is called Nuke.
Nuke is a highly addictive fictional drug distributed in Detroit by Cain and his gang. Its trade gives the criminals power and creates a major challenge for RoboCop and the Detroit Police Department.
The film’s plot connects Nuke to a corporate and criminal struggle over RoboCop’s replacement and enhancement. Cain, the drug lord associated with the operation, later becomes the brain and spinal cord used in the RoboCop 2 project.
Nuke is not the name of a robot or a police program. The title RoboCop 2 refers to the new cyborg project, while the drug is one of the story’s central human-made threats. The film was released in 1990 and directed by Irvin Kershner.
