In RoboCop 2, the drug lord whose brain is used for the new robot prototype is Cain.
Cain is the leader of a criminal organization distributing the drug Nuke in a troubled version of Detroit. After suffering catastrophic injuries, he is selected as the neurological basis for RoboCop 2, a larger and more heavily armed successor intended to replace or supplement RoboCop.
The project illustrates the film's central conflict between law enforcement, corporate control, and commercialized violence. Cain's criminal personality and memories remain important because the prototype is not simply an empty machine. Its unstable behavior reflects the difficulty of combining a human mind with a powerful mechanical body.
Cain is often confused with Clarence Boddicker, the gang leader from the first RoboCop film. Boddicker is responsible for Alex Murphy's original death, while Cain is the antagonist connected to RoboCop 2 and Nuke.
