In Robert Jordan’s fantasy novel The Eye of the World, Rand al’Thor lives in the village of Emond’s Field.
Emond’s Field is located in the Two Rivers, a rural region of the kingdom of Andor. Rand begins the story there as a young shepherd living with his father, Tam al’Thor. The village’s isolated position makes the arrival of Moiraine Damodred and Lan especially disruptive to the local community.
Rand leaves Emond’s Field after Trollocs attack the settlement. He travels with several other young people from the Two Rivers, beginning a journey that eventually reveals his connection to the Dragon Reborn and the larger conflict against the Dark One.
Baerlon is a nearby town visited early in the journey, while Shadar Logoth is an abandoned city encountered later. Tar Valon is a major city and the seat of the White Tower, so none of those places is Rand’s home village.
