Pokémon Red and Green are set in the Kanto region. It is the first region introduced in the main Pokémon video-game series and the home of the original 151 Pokémon.
The player begins in Pallet Town and travels through cities, routes, caves, forests, and seas while earning Gym Badges. The journey culminates in the Pokémon League on the Indigo Plateau, where the player faces the Elite Four and the Champion.
Kanto's geography and landmarks also shaped the first anime season. Locations such as Viridian City, Pewter City, Cerulean City, and Cinnabar Island became familiar to players and viewers around the world.
Later games introduced Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and other regions, so newer fans sometimes associate the franchise with a different setting. Kanto remains the specific region of the original Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow-era adventure.
