In Pokémon Pokopia, the player character is a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
This premise gives the spin-off its unusual identity. Instead of controlling a human Trainer who catches Pokémon, players guide a Pokémon whose transformation ability lets it adopt a human-like appearance while helping create a new community.
The transformed Ditto gathers resources, learns useful moves from other Pokémon, builds structures, cultivates crops, and improves habitats. The story places cooperation and construction at the center of the experience rather than making traditional Pokémon battles the primary activity.
Ditto is especially appropriate for this role because its signature ability is Transform, which allows it to copy another Pokémon’s appearance and moves. Zorua and Mew are also associated with transformation or imitation in Pokémon lore, but neither is the protagonist of Pokémon Pokopia.
