Tangrowth is the town’s lone remaining resident when Ditto awakens in Pokémon Pokopia.
The game begins in a place where humans and Pokémon once lived together, but the grass and trees have withered and the inhabitants have disappeared. Tangrowth remains there alone, giving the opening setting a quiet and slightly mysterious atmosphere.
After waking from a long slumber, Ditto transforms into a human-like form and encounters Tangrowth. That meeting starts the rebuilding effort. Ditto learns moves from Pokémon, crafts objects, creates habitats, and gradually turns the deserted land into a more welcoming home.
Tangrowth is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. It evolves from Tangela when Tangela levels up while knowing Ancient Power. In Pokopia, however, the important detail is its story role rather than its evolution method: Tangrowth is presented as the first surviving resident of the abandoned town.
