Tangrowth has the role of Professor Tangrowth in Pokémon Pokopia.
After Ditto awakens in a world abandoned by humans, it meets a Tangrowth known as Professor Tangrowth. This character studies the damaged environment and investigates the mystery of why humans and Pokémon left the region.
Professor Tangrowth helps frame Pokopia’s story as an environmental reconstruction project. Instead of beginning with a badge quest, the player is asked to restore habitats so that Pokémon populations can recover. Tangrowth’s scientific role connects the building mechanics with the game’s larger mystery.
The name can cause confusion because Tangrowth is both the species name and part of the character’s title. Professor Tangrowth is not a human professor and is not a separate Pokémon species. The character is a Tangrowth who has adopted an academic identity while studying the post-apocalyptic landscape and guiding Ditto through the early stages of the adventure.
