In Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., the snowman who helps Sulley and Mike in exile is the Yeti.
The Yeti lives in the Himalayas-like environment known as the Himalayas after being banished from Monstropolis. Sulley and Mike are sent there after Waternoose removes them from the company. Although the Yeti initially seems intimidating, he is friendly and offers them hospitality.
The character prepares snow cones for the visitors, using the colorful syrup that he has available. This short sequence provides comic relief after the tense factory conflict and shows that exile does not necessarily make a monster cruel or dangerous.
The Yeti is sometimes called the Abominable Snowman because that is the familiar name for the legendary creature in human folklore. In the film, however, the character is credited and generally identified simply as the Yeti. John Ratzenberger provides his voice in the original English version.
