In Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., the company receptionist who dates Mike Wazowski is Celia Mae.
Celia works at the front desk of Monsters, Incorporated and is recognizable by her single large eye, blue-green skin, and snake-like hair made of small serpents. She is Mike’s girlfriend and often reacts impatiently to his self-importance, but she remains an important part of his life outside the scare floor.
Her birthday dinner at Harryhausen’s becomes a major plot complication after Boo is discovered. Because the restaurant is associated with the human-contamination scare, the CDA quarantines the location and shaves Celia’s hair after she is exposed to Boo’s presence. The sequence combines workplace comedy with the film’s exaggerated safety fears.
Jennifer Tilly voices Celia in the original English version. Celia is sometimes confused with Roz because both work around the company’s administrative operations, but Roz is Mike’s supervisor and is not his girlfriend.
