In Pixar’s Cars, who voices the rusty tow truck Mater in the English version?

In Pixar’s Cars, Larry the Cable Guy voices the rusty tow truck Mater in the English version.

Mater is the friendly tow truck who lives in Radiator Springs. His humor, exaggerated Southern-style speech, and loyalty make him one of the film’s most recognizable characters. Larry the Cable Guy, the stage name of comedian Daniel Lawrence Whitney, supplied Mater’s English voice.

Mater’s name is pronounced like “tomato,” a joke that reflects the character’s informal personality. He becomes Lightning McQueen’s first close friend in Radiator Springs and helps him understand the town’s residents. The voice cast is sometimes mixed up because Cars also features major stars such as Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen and Paul Newman as Doc Hudson. Larry the Cable Guy continued voicing Mater in later Cars films and related short-form projects.
