In Pixar’s Cars, who voices the retired racing legend Doc Hudson?
Answer
Paul Newman
In Pixar’s Cars, Paul Newman voices the retired racing legend Doc Hudson.
Doc is the judge and town doctor of Radiator Springs, but he was once a celebrated Piston Cup racer known as the Hudson Hornet. His past explains why he distrusts the racing world and initially resists helping Lightning McQueen.
Newman brought unusual real-world racing credibility to the role. He was an accomplished auto-racing driver and co-founded a racing team, making his casting especially fitting for a film centered on motorsport.
Doc Hudson was Newman’s final voice performance in a feature film released during his lifetime. The character was inspired by the real Hudson Hornet, a car associated with early stock-car racing success.
