In Pixar's Cars, who provides the voice of Doc Hudson?
Answer
Paul Newman
In Pixar's Cars, Paul Newman provides the voice of Doc Hudson.
Newman was an acclaimed American actor and a successful real-life racing enthusiast. His connection to motorsport made him a particularly fitting choice for Doc, a retired champion whose knowledge and regrets shape Lightning McQueen's development. Newman's calm, weathered delivery gives Doc authority while preserving the character's guarded personality.
Doc Hudson is also known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet and once won three Piston Cups. His story parallels the career pressures faced by real athletes who are celebrated while winning and forgotten after injury. Newman recorded Doc's dialogue for the first Cars film and returned for Cars: The Video Game and related material.
Owen Wilson voices Lightning McQueen, Michael Keaton voices Chick Hicks, and Larry the Cable Guy voices Mater. These actors are strongly associated with Cars, but Paul Newman is the voice of Doc Hudson.
