In Pixar's Cars, who directed the original 2006 film?
Answer
John Lasseter
Answer
John Lasseter
John Lasseter directed Pixar's original 2006 film Cars.
Lasseter co-directed Toy Story and A Bug's Life before leading Cars as director. The film's production combined Pixar's character-driven storytelling with extensive research into automobiles, racing, and Route 66 landscapes.
Cars was Lasseter's fourth feature as a director and his first film centered on anthropomorphic vehicles. He shared the directing credit on Cars with no other director, although Joe Ranft was credited as a co-writer and served as a major creative collaborator before his death during production.
Later Cars films had different directors. Brad Lewis directed Cars 2 with Lasseter, while Brian Fee directed Cars 3. Brad Bird and Pete Docter are also prominent Pixar directors, but neither directed the original Cars, making those names common mix-ups in Pixar trivia.
