In Pixar’s Cars, which voice actor plays Mater?

Larry the Cable Guy voices Mater in Pixar’s Cars.

Mater is Radiator Springs’ rusty tow truck and Lightning McQueen’s closest friend. His informal speech, enthusiastic personality, and loyalty provide much of the film’s comedy, while his friendship helps McQueen become less self-absorbed.

Larry the Cable Guy is the stage name of comedian Daniel Lawrence Whitney. The character’s voice and catchphrases are closely associated with that comedy persona, but Mater is an original Pixar character rather than a portrayal of a real tow-truck driver. Mater returns in Cars 2, where his central role expands into an accidental spy adventure, and in Cars 3. He also appears in the television series Cars on the Road, which premiered on Disney+ in 2022.
