In Pixar's Cars, which racing legend is revealed to be the town's doctor?

The story behind the answer

In Pixar's Cars, the racing legend revealed to be Radiator Springs' doctor is Doc Hudson.

Doc is initially introduced as the town's local medical professional and judge. Later, McQueen learns that Doc was once the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, a celebrated racer who won three Piston Cups.

Doc's racing career ended after a serious crash and an indifferent response from the racing world. He withdrew from competition and settled in Radiator Springs, where he became a respected community doctor.

Doc Hudson is based partly on the real Hudson Hornet, a car associated with early stock-car racing success. Paul Newman provided Doc's voice, making the role one of the actor's notable late-career voice performances.
