In Pixar's Cars, which former Piston Cup champion runs the Radiator Springs Racing Museum?

The story behind the answer

Doc Hudson, a former Piston Cup champion, runs the Radiator Springs Racing Museum in Pixar's Cars.

Doc initially presents himself as the town's judge and physician, but Lightning McQueen eventually discovers his hidden racing history. Doc was once known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet and won three Piston Cup championships.

The character is based on the real Hudson Hornet, a car that became famous in stock-car racing during the early 1950s. Its “step-down” design and racing success helped inspire Doc's appearance and backstory.

Paul Newman provided Doc Hudson's voice in Cars. The film was Newman's final major voice role, and the character was not recast for Cars 2 after Doc's death was mentioned as part of the story.
