In Pixar’s Cars, which car manufacturer made Doc Hudson?

The story behind the answer

Doc Hudson was made by Hudson, the American car manufacturer.

Doc is a 1951 Hudson Hornet, a model celebrated for its success in early stock-car racing. In Cars, his racing past is initially hidden from Lightning McQueen, but the Hudson Hornet name later becomes central to Doc’s identity and legend.

The real Hudson Motor Car Company operated from 1909 until 1954, when it merged with Nash-Kelvinator to form American Motors Corporation. The Hudson Hornet was particularly famous for its “Fabulous Hudson Hornet” racing reputation. Doc’s design draws on that real automotive history rather than representing a fictional manufacturer.
