In Pixar’s Cars, which actor voices the race announcer Darrell Cartrip?

In Pixar’s Cars, Darrell Waltrip voices the race announcer Darrell Cartrip.

Darrell Cartrip is a talking stock car who provides commentary during the Piston Cup race scenes. The character’s name and voice are drawn from real-world NASCAR personality Darrell Waltrip, a three-time Winston Cup champion and longtime racing broadcaster.

Waltrip’s participation gives the racing broadcasts an authentic motorsports voice. He appears alongside other fictional commentators, including Bob Cutlass, voiced by Bob Costas, and Chick Hicks, who is both a competitor and a frequent source of conflict.

Darrell Waltrip also appears as the voice of Darrell Cartrip in later Cars-related productions. His role is easy to confuse with other celebrity racing voices connected to the franchise, but the commentator’s canonical voice in the first Cars film is Waltrip.
