In Pixar's Cars, which actor voices The King, the veteran racer?

In Pixar's Cars, Richard Petty voices The King, the veteran racer.

The King is the nickname of Strip Weathers, a blue Plymouth Superbird who is one of the most respected competitors in the Piston Cup. Petty, a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, supplied the character's voice and lent the role strong connections to real stock-car racing.

The King is portrayed as experienced, calm, and sportsmanlike. During the final race, Chick Hicks causes a crash that sends The King spinning. Lightning McQueen then gives up his own chance to win so that The King can finish the race, reinforcing the film's theme that sporting success is not the only measure of greatness.

Richard Petty's family connection to racing also appears in the Cars cast. His wife, Lynda Petty, voices The King's wife, Mrs. The King. The character is often confused with Doc Hudson, but Doc is voiced by Paul Newman and represents a different generation of fictional racing history.
