George Carlin voices Fillmore in Pixar's Cars.
Fillmore is the town's organic-fuel enthusiast and operates Fillmore's Organic Fuel, a small business in Radiator Springs. His character is a brightly painted Volkswagen Type 2 van, commonly called a Volkswagen bus. Fillmore's name also evokes the 1960s counterculture and the real Fillmore music venues associated with San Francisco.
George Carlin was an American comedian and actor whose film work included voice roles. Cars was among his final major projects; he died in 2008, two years after the film's release. The movie was dedicated to Joe Ranft, a Pixar writer and storyboard artist who died during production.
Fillmore is sometimes confused with other Radiator Springs characters because several are voiced by well-known comedians. Larry the Cable Guy voices Mater, while Bonnie Hunt voices Sally Carrera and Paul Newman voices Doc Hudson. Carlin's role is specifically Fillmore, the town's laid-back fuel-shop owner.
