In Pixar's Cars, what type of vehicle is Lightning McQueen's hauler Mack?

The story behind the answer

In Pixar's Cars, Lightning McQueen's hauler Mack is a Mack Super-Liner.

Mack is the red truck responsible for transporting Lightning and his racing equipment between events. He is a semi-truck with a distinctive cab and trailer, and his name refers directly to Mack Trucks, the American manufacturer known for heavy-duty commercial vehicles.

The character's role becomes important near the beginning of the film. Mack is exhausted while driving Lightning toward the Piston Cup tiebreaker in California and is distracted when Lightning falls from the trailer. That separation leaves Lightning stranded and starts the central story in Radiator Springs.

Viewers sometimes identify Mack as a generic Peterbilt or another American truck because the film uses stylized vehicle designs. Mack is not Lightning's race-car model; he is the support vehicle who carries him. The Mack Super-Liner designation distinguishes his character from the many other truck models seen in the Cars universe.
