In Pixar’s Cars, Doc Hudson is the traffic court judge in Radiator Springs.
After Lightning McQueen damages the town’s main road, Doc presides over the local proceedings and sentences him to repair it. Doc appears to be a quiet medical professional and respected community leader, but the film later reveals that he was once the famous racer known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet.
Doc’s court role is easy to overlook because his racing history becomes more important to the plot. He is also the town’s doctor and a former crew chief and mentor figure. The judge is not Sheriff, even though Sheriff enforces local law, and it is not a separate unnamed court official. Doc’s multiple community roles reflect his status in Radiator Springs.
